Athletic
Eligibility Requirements
Ohio High
School Athletic Association (OHSAA)
- In
order to be eligible in grades 9-12 a student must be currently enrolled and
have been enrolled in the preceding grading period.
During the preceding grading period, the student must have received
passing grades in a minimum of five one-credit courses or the equivalent,
which counts toward graduation.
- The
eligibility or ineligibility of a student continues until the start of the
fifth (5th) day of the next grading period, at which time the
grades from the immediately preceding grading period become effective.
EXCEPTION: Eligibility
or ineligibility for the first grading period commences with the start of
the fall sports season (first contest).
- A
student enrolled in the first grading period after the advancement from the
8th grade must have passed 75% of those subjects carried the
preceding grading period in which the student was enrolled.
- To
be eligible in grades 7-8, students must be currently enrolled in a member
school and have received passing grades in 75% of subjects in which enrolled
the immediately preceding grading period.
Bloom-Carroll
Local School District
- Students
must maintain a 1.6 Grade Point Average (GPA) each grading period.
- If
GPA falls below 1.6, the student will be automatically placed on probation.
- Students
must not have 3 or more grades below 70% at eligibility check.
- If
a student has 3 or more grades below 70% or 2 grades below 60% at any
eligibility check and their annual probationary period has been used, the
student is ineligible for the corresponding length of time.
- Each
student will be assigned one probationary 3-week period per school year.
Written notice will be sent to parents in every instance of
ineligibility.
- Eligibility
checks will be due to the Activities Director by Monday at 2:10 pm of each
3-week check period. A list of
all athletes will be provided to the teaching staff on the preceding Friday.
- Athletes,
parents, coaches, and teachers will be notified on Tuesday of a student’s
ineligibility.
- The
Athletic Ineligibility will begin on Wednesday and last for the period of
time, or until next check.
- A
student who is ineligible may continue to practice at the discretion of
parents and coach.
- Eligibility
checks will begin on the 4th Monday of the new school year and
continues every 3 weeks through the remainder of the school year.
- Athletes
are required to be enrolled in and complete 5 subjects per semester.
A review committee will be established to monitor academically
deficient students.
